Christmas Dueling Piano Show
From 6 pm to 9 pm at the Mt Zion Convention Cente, doors open at 5:30pm. Presented by Sav Mor Pharmacy. Tickets cost: $20 for ages 11 and up, $10 for ages 10 and under. Ticket includes dinner, dessert station, ice tea, lemonade, water or coffee. Tickets go on sale September 12th.

Monday November 24
Community Childrens Christmas Fund
The Mt Zion community childrens Christmas fund will support approximately 200 children during the 2014 Christmas Season. Please submit donations by November 24 for time to shop, organize and distribute the gifts. Donations are being accepted by Mt Zion Prairie State Bank.

Skys the Limit
The activities in this program involve experiments, investigation, discussion, and reflection while centering around STEM learning. At 4:30 pm at the Mt Zion District library. For ages 7 years old through 6th grade. This month explore engineering and technology!

Christmas Open House
At the Mt Zion District Library from 9 am to 8 pm. Includes holiday make and take crafts, festive food and more.

Saturday December 6
Christmas Parade
Annual Mt Zion Community Christmas Parade, hosted by the Mt Zion Lions Club, starts at 6 pm. Parade Route - Main Street from the First Baptist Church/Grade School to the Firehouse. Hot chocolate, cookies and Santa will be available at the Firehouse after the parade. If interested in placing an entry into the parade, contact TrevBrthrs@hotmail.com or 217.620.3350. Information needed: 1) Type of Float/Entry and number of participants and 2) Main Entry Contact Person (name, phone number, and e-mail). Staging is at the Baptist Church on Main street across from Mt Zion Grade School around 5 pm. Main Entry Contact will be notified for line-up details, etc. after all interested entries are received. No charge for entry into the Christmas Parade and tossing of candy is welcomed and encouraged!

Art of Cheer Event
Following the Annual Mt Zion Community Christmas Parade, the Heroic Age Art Center will be holding an open house to debut a new Gallery Show The Art of Cheer, featuring new Holiday Art, Crafts, and Specialty Christmas Trees created by the Heroic Age Art Center Artists. Come by and enjoy Holiday Music, Refreshments and a chance to win one of several Art Center Gift Baskets filled with goodies from various HA Art Center Artists. Artists and Studios include: Next of Kiln, Laura Webb Photography, Paint Junkies, Center Earth Studio, L and L Studio, Sincerely Pigeon Studio, Ilie Vaduva Artist, The Purple Crayon and Heroic Age Studios.

American Girl Club
Join us as we learn about history and culture by using the American Girl stories. Each meeting includes activities or crafts that bring history to life at 4:30 pm at the Mt Zion District library. For ages 7 years old through through 6th grade.

Thursday December 11
Book Club
At 6:30 pm at the Mt Zion District Library. Everyone welcome to discuss A Christmas Blizzard by Garrison Keillor. Copy of the book available at the desk.

Saturday December 13
Frosty 5K
Stay warm this winter and keep moving at the Mt Zion Odd Fellow’s Frosty 5K. 11 am race will start and end at the Mt Zion Odd Fellows Lodge located on Main St downtown. Entrants will receive a chance to win a $100, $50 or $25 Visa gift card and all you can eat hot meal / refreshments. A minimum of 2 awards per age division. Limited to the first 90 entrants only so make sure to sign up quickly. Registration is only $12. Registration form can be found on www.mtzionoddfellows.org.

Saturday December 13
Christmas Time
Themed event with Doodles the Dragon, Granny Giggle and The Gary Strong Marionette Show. Concessions, live entertainment, old time movies, classic cartoons and prizes at Fletcher Park Recreation Center. Doors open at 1:30 pm, show from 2 pm to 3:30 pm. Fee is $4 per adult and $1 per child. Proceeds go benefit the fundraiser for Fletcher Park Splash Pad. Call 864.5424 for more information.

Monday December 15
Letters to Santa
Village of Mt Zion is collecting letters to Santa Claus and will make sure the letters get to him at the North Pole. Drop off letters at the Village Hall by December 15 (Santa will be busy after that!) with a return address and see if he writes back! Walk them in, drop them in the mail to the Village or use the drop box in front of the Village Hall.

Christmas Stocking Drawing
Stop in Sav-Mor and enter to win a huge Christmas stocking filled with toys for a child or grandchild! Drawing will be Monday December 22nd. Winner will be contacted by phone.

Great Gatsby Casino Night
New Years Eve costume party from 7 pm to 1 am at the Mt Zion Convention Center. Red carpet entrance - feel like a 1920′s Celebrity! Music by Jac Freeze. Must be at least 21 years old to enter, costumes optional. Ticket is $60 and includes: $50 of startup chips, heavy appetizers, dessert bar, raffle drawing, dancing and entertainment, midnight champagne toast.
