A drop site will be provided for Village and Township residents to discard large items from 9 am to 2 pm at the Township Garage. Please no chemicals, paints, tires, household garbage, fencing, wire or yard waste. Appliances accepted, please drain the Freon from appliances and remove the doors. One Hundred Years The Meaning of the Great War presented by Professor Dan Guillory at 11 am at the Mt Zion District Library. Using vintage photographs and quotations from letters and poems of WWI combatants, Professor Guillory presents the causes of the war, the general and principal politicians, the major battles, the role of women and much more.

MCHD Emergency Response Training
The Macon County Health Department is offering residents a chance to participate in an emergency response training program during April. The Community Emergency Response Team Program consists of 20 hours of classroom and hands-on disaster training, and will conclude with an exercise drill designed to allow participants to apply the knowledge and skills learned during the course. Classes held from 6 pm to 10 pm at the Mt Zion Fire Department. This program is free and open to the public. Those interested in participating in this program are asked to RSVP by April 1 by calling 423.6988, extension 1131 or extension 1133. April 20 course is Fire Safety & Disaster Medical Ops.

Kiss-A-Pig Gala
Join the American Diabetes Association for an evening of food, fun and pig kissing at 6 pm at the Mt Zion Convention Center! Event includes heavy hors doeuvres, complimentary beer and wine, live & silent auction items, photo booth, wine wall and games. Theme: Be transported to Monte Carlo, as we are Betting on a Cure. Join retired teacher and artist, Sue Wollen, during this step-by-step, hands on class that instructs participants in making fun and whimsical clay creations. For ages 7 to 12. Kids Club - Fun with Dr Seuss
At Fletcher Park Recreation Center. Doodles the Dragon, Granny Giggles and the Gary Strong Marionette Show. Concessions, live entertainment, old time movies, classic cartoons and prizes. Doors open at 1:30 pm show is at 2 pm. Fee: $4 per adult and $1 per child. Proceeds to Fletcher Park Splash Pad.

Tour the rental locations, watch the transformation of each room to meet a variety of needs, visit the off site private meeting area at Fletcher Park, meet vendors showcasing pipe & drape, lighting, linens, cuisine, hotel accommodations and more. USPS Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive
Place a box or can of non-perishable food next to your mailbox before the letter carrier delivers mail, the carrier will do all the rest. Food is taken back to the postal station, sorted, and then delivered to an area food bank or pantry.

Sunday May 10
5K Race Against Hunger
Presented by the Mt Zion High School National Honor Society. 2 pm start, register from 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm on race day in Jr High/HS cafetorium. Trophies for top male and female finishers, medals for top finishers in age categories. Fee: $10 and a canned good donation. Tshirts are $15, register by April 24 to be guaranteed a shirt.
